KR Classic: Thursdays, 6km

When: Thursday evenings at 6.30pm (for a 6.40pm departure).

Where: Meet at the bottom of the Harbour Bridge stairs (see below).

Level: Good for beginners to advanced runners.

Course description

Runners from around Sydney have gathered to participate in this classic Thursday-night run since at least late 2006. Afterwards, we gather at the Kirribilli Hotel, for a few drinks, and then invite all to migrate to Pizzeria Rio (Kirribilli) for pizza dinner at a discounted price. Runners of all fitness levels love this scenic trip around the harbour—and even elite runners will find a challenge in the Cahill hill.

  • From the north side of the Harbour Bridge run south.
  • Run up the stairs at the end of the Bridge, and follow the path down and along the Cahill expressway.
  • Circle around “the tombstones” and turn right onto the path along the perimeter of the parkland  (just before Macquarie Street)
  • Follow the path to the end of Bennelong Point and down the stairs toward the Opera House.
  • Run around the Opera House, from right to left, in anticlockwise direction.
  • Continue past the Opera House entry fountain and onto Macquarie street.
  • Retrace your steps to the finish: up the Cahill express way and north across the Bridge!

Where we meet

Thursday evenings, 6.30pm, at the steps leading up to the Harbour Bridge pedestrian path, Milsons Point.

Kirribilli is on the traditional land of the Cammeraygal people. The name Kirribilli was probably derived from the Aboriginal word kiarabilli, which means “good fishing spot.” Kirribilli Runners acknowledges the traditional custodians of the country on which we gather and run, as well as our responsibility to respect and care for country, people, and spirit.
